Two more bridges will be built in HCM City over the Rach Chiec River, one in District 9 and the other on the Ha Noi Highway, at a total cost of VND1.48 trillion (US$92.5 million), the city transport department has said.
The 629-metre-long Rach Chiec Bridge, located in the eastern ring road in District 9's Phuoc Long B Ward, will be built in 2008-10 period at VND473 billion ($29.6 million). The money will be sourced from the city's coffers or loans.
Another bridge of the same name will replace an existing one on the Ha Noi Highway. Measuring 295m long and 48m wide, it will cost an estimated VND1.01 trillion ($63.1 million).
The Department of Transport and Public Works has also approved a project to build two four-lane fly-overs in front of the HCM City National University in Thu Duc District.
The fly-overs across the Ha Noi Highway, to cost VND253 billion ($15.8 million), will be built by the Urban Management Unit No. 2.
